Plans and billing

See your plan, upgrade, move down or cancel, manage the card that pays, and download invoices.

Plan & billing is a section of Settings: the plan a server is on and everything about paying for it. The pricing page compares what each plan includes and costs.

Anyone who can see the plan can see this section. Changing the plan needs the Delete the team permission, which the Admin preset has, and only the owner can change the card that pays.

What the section shows

  • One line: what the plan costs and how often it is billed, when it renews or ends, and the card that pays.
  • Change plan, which opens every plan side by side to move to another.
  • Payment method and Invoices, which open Polar's portal.
  • Add-ons: extra modules you can add to the subscription.
  • What the next plan adds, with the way to upgrade to it.

When a payment fails, a notice at the top of every other dashboard page says so: while the payment is retried, how long the plan keeps working, and once it has stopped, since when. Its Update card button brings you here to change the card. If the payment processor ends the plan instead, the notice says so once, until you put it away.

Upgrade

On Free, choosing a paid plan opens the checkout on the page. Checkout is handled by Polar, the merchant of record: it takes the payment, issues the receipt and handles tax. The plan switches on as soon as the payment clears, usually within a few seconds.

Moving up from a paid plan starts straight away. It charges nothing that day: your next bill adds the difference for the rest of the period, then renews at the new price. From Pro billed yearly, moving up to Titan, which is billed monthly, also starts straight away: what is left of the year you paid for is credited against Titan's bills, starting with that day's, and shows as a credit among your charges.

Moving up to Titan does not change the bot by itself. Connect your own bot in Settings when you are ready.

Monthly or yearly

Pro can be billed monthly or yearly; a year costs less than twelve months. On the pricing page and in Change plan, Pro's card has a switch between monthly and yearly. Titan, priced by your server's size, is billed monthly.

  • Switching from monthly to yearly starts a yearly period that day: you pay the yearly price, less what is left of the month you paid for.
  • Switching from yearly to monthly takes effect when the year you paid for ends. Until then nothing changes, and the section shows the change coming with Keep the current plan to undo it.

Levelling on each plan

Levelling comes with every plan, Free included: XP, levels, level role rewards, level-up announcements, /rank and /leaderboard, and moving over from another bot. Pro adds your own XP rules and level curve, level-up messages and cards of your own design, rewards for top ranks and activity, and roles Colossus runs for you. Titan adds recounting past activity when the rules change, members' own rank cards, and no limit on how many rules earn XP. Levelling lists it all.

Move down or cancel

  • Moving down takes effect at the end of the period you paid for, which on yearly billing is the end of the year. Until then you keep the current plan, and the section shows the change coming with Keep the current plan to undo it.
  • To cancel, open Change plan and press Move down under Free. The plan stops at the end of the period, nothing is charged after that, and Resume plan undoes it until then.

Your history stays when a plan ends. The free plan shows the latest part of it, and upgrading again shows the rest. Levelling settings your new plan does not include are kept, but stop applying until you upgrade again: your own XP rules and curve give way to the default ones, which can move members' levels, rewards beyond level roles stop, messages and cards go back to the bot's own, and rules past the plan's limit stop earning. A server on its own bot stops recording when the plan that carries it ends, so move to the shared bot first if you want recording to carry on.

Pay and invoices

Payment method and Invoices both open Polar's portal, where the owner adds a card, chooses which one is the default, and downloads the invoice for every charge. Cards belong to the owner's billing account and pay for every server they own, so only the owner sees these two.

A plan whose payment is refunded in full ends straight away, and the server moves to Free; your data stays.

When a payment fails

If a payment does not go through, the plan keeps working for a grace period and the section says until when. The owner can press Pay now to pay it in Polar's portal, with any card. If the payment keeps failing, the plan ends and the server moves to Free; your data stays.
