Perks
Hand out roles for levels, top ranks, runs of activity, statistics, time in the server, invites and roles members hold, choose what members keep as they climb, and let Colossus run the roles for you.
Levels & perks, under Rewards in the sidebar, holds everything members are given for what they do and who they are, a page to each:
- Level perks: roles for reaching a level or a prestige, and how they stack.
- Activity perks: roles for a place on the leaderboard, a run of XP, or a statistic such as messages sent or minutes in voice.
- Membership perks: roles for time in the server, members brought in, or a role a member already holds.
Most perks hand out a Discord role; on Titan a perk can also let a member change their own rank card, or give them a level-up image of its own. A server can hold up to 110 perks across the three pages, and each role can be handed out by one perk only. Perks run while levelling is on.
Level rewards
Level rewards gives a role when a member reaches a level. Add one, pick the level and the role, and save. Each reward shows how many members hold its role now and how long the level takes your median active member to reach.
If your server already hands out roles for levels, press Import existing roles. Pick the roles, and Colossus guesses each one's level from its name, from levels you brought over, or from the levels of the members who hold it. Check the levels, then add them as rewards.
With prestige on, a level reward is reached in the first climb and kept through every one after, unless you tie it to a particular prestige. A reward can also wait for a prestige itself.
What members keep as they climb
Roles, under Rewards, sets how perks' roles behave:
- Stacking. Members keep every level reward, only the highest, which takes the previous role away when the next arrives, or the highest, with the access of the rest, the default: only the highest role, carrying the permissions and channel access of the ones below. That carrying up works only for roles Colossus runs; a role you run is handed out as it is, so a member who moves past it loses what it gave.
- Returning members. By default, someone who leaves and rejoins gets their reward roles back at once. Choose earn them again instead and their roles come back only as their XP is counted again, so leaving cannot skip a verification step.
Activity perks
On Pro and Titan, Activity perks hands out a role for as long as a member qualifies:
- While in the top places: the top 1 to 100 of all time, over the last 7 days, or over the last 30 days.
- While earning: at least so much XP within a window of 1 to 90 days, which rewards members who keep showing up.
- With a statistic: at least so many messages, words, reactions, replies, voice minutes, commands or any other statistic levelling can count, over the last day, 7, 30, 90 or 365 days, or of all time. Set it to keep the role for good and it becomes an achievement: once a member reaches it, the role stays theirs, whatever the statistic reads later. A statistic counts everything Colossus saw, including what came before you moved over from another bot.
- Playing a game: pick minutes in apps, then name the games, so it reads "With 600 minutes playing Valorant over the last 30 days, members get @Player". The list holds the games your members played, the most played first; type a name to find one, or a game nobody here has played yet. Colossus sees what members play only while presence capture is on, which you turn on in Settings.
Membership perks
On Pro and Titan, Membership perks hands out a role for who a member is:
- After so many days in the server, counted from when they last joined.
- Having brought in so many members who are still here, each counted once for whoever invited them.
- While holding a role: any role but @everyone, including a role Discord or another app gives, such as Server Booster, a server subscription tier, or a role a Patreon or Ko-fi bot hands out. Colossus reads that role; it never hands it out or takes it away.
Other ways in
On Pro and Titan, a perk's sentence takes other ways in: press or… after what the perk is for and pick one, so it reads "Reaching level 20 or while holding @Supporter gives @Veterans". Meeting any one is enough. On a level reward, a member who meets one counts as having reached that level, and the ladder still keeps only their highest step. That is how a supporter role can give everything a level 20 member gets, without a second role. To take a way in back out, open its first word and pick nothing else.
When the perk's role is one Colossus runs, a role held can carry that role's access itself. Open the word after the role and pick carrying its access, so it reads "Reaching level 30 or holding @VIP 1 (carrying its access) gives @Level 30". Members holding @VIP 1 then aren't handed @Level 30. Instead, @VIP 1 gets @Level 30's permissions and channel access, so a membership or subscription role can open the same doors as a level without a second role. Colossus adds only those permissions, never moderation or server-wide ones, and never changes the role's name, look or members. When the perk lets go, Colossus takes back only what it added, and leaves what the role held before. A role Discord or an app gives, such as a server subscription role, can carry access as long as it sits below Colossus's highest role. Roles lists each role carrying access and whether it is in step.
A perk can never be given for holding a role a perk hands out, or one Colossus runs, so no perk can decide who gets another, or keep itself. Activity and membership perks are checked every ten minutes; a rule on a large server reaches every member over a few runs.
Who runs the roles
Who runs the reward roles decides how much Colossus does with the roles:
- You run them: Colossus hands out roles you already have, exactly as they are. This is how every plan starts.
- Colossus runs them: on Pro and Titan, Colossus creates new roles for rewards or takes over existing ones, and keeps each one's name, colour, icon, permissions and channel access as you set them on this page. New roles go under the role you pick in Place new roles below.
Levelling never hands out moderation, management or server-wide permissions. A role that grants any of them cannot be a reward as it is. On Pro and Titan, have Colossus run it instead, which removes those permissions from it; only someone holding every team permission can do that. A role Colossus runs hands out only member permissions, such as sending messages, joining voice or using external emoji. Before Colossus takes roles over, or gives them back to you, it shows what each one keeps and loses.
If someone edits a role Colossus runs in Discord, it either puts the role back or keeps the edit and flags it on this page, whichever you choose.
Removing a reward
Saving without a reward asks what to do with its role. Colossus removes it from everyone who holds it, a few members at a time, unless you leave it on them. A role Colossus made is deleted from Discord unless you choose to keep it there.
When a role does not arrive
Discord only lets Colossus give roles that sit below its own highest role, and only permissions it holds itself. The page warns about any reward that breaks either rule, and says how to fix it in Server Settings → Roles. Role changes Discord refused lists the role changes Discord turned down in the last 30 days, each with what to change.
Members' own rank cards
On Titan, a perk can let its members make their /rank card their own. Open Card editing on the perk's row and pick the parts its holders may change: the layout, accent colour, light or dark, every colour, the font, the background, pictures, words, and pictures filling the card's shapes, such as the band across the top of the banner layout. Parts add up the way Discord adds up role permissions: a member can change every part of every perk they hold, and someone holding no such perk keeps the server's card. To let every member change a part, hand it out in a perk given for holding @everyone, on Membership. A server that set parts for every member before perks handed them out finds them there as that perk.
Members change their card on a page of their own, which they open from a link you copy from the same dialog and sign in to with Discord. Parts they can't change yet show greyed out, with the perk that unlocks them. Every picture a member uploads waits in Member pictures, under Requests, and /rank leaves it off until someone on your team approves it.
On Titan, a reward can also carry a Level-up image: when a member reaches it, the level-up message shows that card instead of the server's. See Level-ups and rank cards.
