Give your team access
Let moderators and staff open the dashboard, choose what each role or person can see and change, and hand the server to someone else.
When you set a server up, you become its owner and only you can open its dashboard. On Pro and Titan you can let others in, by Discord role or person by person. On Free, the dashboard is yours alone.
Anyone you let in signs in with Discord, the same way you did.
Add a role or a person
You need to be the owner, or hold Change who has access.
- Open Settings, then Team.
- Press Add and search for a Discord role or a member.
- Choose a preset, or set each permission yourself.
- Press Save access.
Access given to a role follows Discord: anyone who gains the role in your server can open the dashboard, and anyone who loses it no longer can.
Presets
Each permission can be set to allow, deny, or left unset. The analytics permissions come one per area, Growth analytics, Engagement analytics, Audience analytics and Member profiles and leaderboards, so you can, for example, let someone see server-wide trends without seeing individual members. Configure levelling, adjust members' XP and run imports covers everything in levelling: its settings, moving over from another bot, judging level claims and member pictures, and changing a member's XP. Someone without a permission simply does not see the views and cards that need it.
When roles and people overlap
A person's access is worked out in layers. First every role they hold is applied, then anything set for them personally, which wins. Within each layer, denials come first and allows are added on top. So you can give a whole moderator role Viewer access, then give one head moderator more.
To see what someone can actually do and why, use Check access in the same section and pick a role, a member or a Discord user id.
Guard rails
- You can only give or take away permissions you hold yourself.
- The owner always has everything, so no policy applies to them.
- Giving the server's everyone role any power to change things asks you to type the role's name first, because it would apply to every member of your Discord server.
Hand the server to someone else
The owner can make someone else the owner under Settings, then Server, then Danger zone, then Hand over ownership. Enter the new owner's Discord user id; they must have signed in to Colossus at least once. The new owner gets everything, and you keep only what policies give you. You cannot take it back yourself.
If the plan is billed to you, cancel it and let it end before handing the server over.
See what your team changed
On Pro and Titan, Settings, then Team, then Activity, lists who changed access, handed over ownership, changed the plan, moved the bot or deleted the server, and when.
