Level-ups and rank cards
Choose where and when level-ups are announced, design the message and the cards, and what members see with /rank and /leaderboard.
Members meet levelling in Discord: a message when they level up, a card when they type /rank, and the standings with /leaderboard. Level-ups and Rank card, under Level-ups & cards in Rewards, set how each looks. Both pages show the message as members will see it, for a sample member you pick on the title's row.
Where and when level-ups are announced
On Level-ups, the panel beside the message sets Where to announce:
- Where they happen: in the channel the member was talking in. This is the default.
- In a channel: always in one channel you pick, such as a level-ups channel.
- By direct message: privately to the member.
- Nowhere: levels still count and roles still move, but nothing is posted.
When to announce is every level-up, only level-ups that give a reward, which is the default, or every few levels, such as every fifth. A newcomer's first level is announced too when every level-up is.
Only levels reached by earning XP are announced. Levels that move because you changed the curve, brought levels over or changed someone's XP are never announced.
The level-up message
Every plan posts the bot's own message, which mentions the member and names their new level, such as "@Ada reached level 12!". A member who reaches a new prestige gets a prestige message instead.
On Pro and Titan, press Customise to write your own. Write it in place on the preview: plain text, a message with embeds and link buttons, or a message laid out with Discord's newer components. Placeholders fill in the member's mention, their name, the new and previous level, their prestige and XP, the server's name, and the member's avatar. Undo, redo and going back to the bot's message sit on the title's row.
On Pro and Titan the message can also show a level-up card. Pick a built-in one, in a wide or square layout with your own colour on a dark or light ground, or a card from Images. On Titan, a reward can carry a level-up image of its own, which shows instead when a member reaches it; see Rewards.
If the old bot's message was read when you brought levels over, it waits under the message, its placeholders turned into Colossus's, until you turn it down or, on Pro and Titan, use it.
When a message does not arrive
Messages Discord refused lists the level-ups Discord turned down in the last 30 days, with what to change for each. The usual causes: the bot cannot see or post in the channel, the channel was deleted, or the member does not accept direct messages from server members.
The rank card
Rank card sets the card /rank posts. It shows the member's level, their place on the leaderboard and how far they are to the next level.
- Built-in, on every plan: a horizontal, profile or banner layout, in your own colour, on a dark or light ground.
- Image, on Pro and Titan: a card you designed in Images.
The bot posts the card on its own. On Pro and Titan you can write the message around it as you would a level-up, with placeholders that also fill in the member's place on the leaderboard.
On Titan, members can change their own card within what you allow; see Members' own rank cards.
Images
On Pro and Titan, Images keeps every card you design: rank cards and level-up cards, each opened in the card editor with a press. Start a new one from a layout or from nothing, and rename, copy or delete it from its menu. A card in use cannot be deleted until something else replaces it. On Free, the page shows the built-in looks every server has.
/rank and /leaderboard in Discord
Both commands are in your server while levelling is on, and during a trial.
/rankposts the member's rank card in the channel. Name another member to see theirs./leaderboardanswers with one image: the top three on a podium, places 4 to 10 with each member's level, progress and XP, and the member who asked pinned underneath when they place lower. A menu under it switches between All time, Last 7 days and Last 30 days; the shorter ranges rank the XP earned in them. Only the member who ran the command can switch it; anyone else is asked to run their own.
/leaderboard replies, on Rank card, sets who sees /leaderboard's answer: privately, only the member who asked, which is the default, or everyone in the channel.
A member who has opted out has no rank, so /rank has nothing to show for them.
