Run a giveaway

A giveaway posted in a channel, entered with a button, drawn and delivered on time, and measured afterwards.

Giveaways aren't part of a plan yet: the Colossus team switches them on for a server. Needs Manager or Admin access; Viewer sees them.

Start a giveaway

  1. Rewards › Giveaways, press New giveaway. To begin from a preset such as Active members only, open its arrow and pick one under Start from a template.
  2. Under Giveaway, set Prize and Channel.
  3. Under Schedule, pick when it starts and How long it runs, up to 60 days. Mark on charts marks it on every chart (Pro).
  4. Under Winners get, set how many winners, from 1 to 50, whether to announce them and whether to DM each one. Add a perk adds a code or text they claim, a winner role, or XP.
  5. Under Who can enter, Add a rule limits entry by roles, level, messages, time in voice, time in the server, account age or boosting.
  6. Under Bonus entries, give roles or activity extra entries.
  7. Press Start giveaway, or Schedule giveaway for a later start.
The giveaway post in Discord: the prize, the host, the rules to enter and the Enter button.

The editor saves a draft as you go. More actions › Save as template keeps the settings and messages, without the channel or schedule, for next time. A server runs up to 25 giveaways at once.

How members enter

Members press Enter on the post. The answer is private: they're in, with how many entries their roles give, or told which rule keeps them out. Pressing it again offers to leave.

How it ends

At the end time, winners are drawn from the entries, weighted by extra entries. Anyone who has left the server or now holds a blocked role is passed over. The post shows the winners, and the announcement, DMs and role go out as set. Prizes to claim carry a Claim button; a prize left unclaimed past its time is drawn again.

On the giveaway's page:

  • End now draws winners from the entries so far.
  • Cancel giveaway ends it with no winners, and the post says so.
  • Reroll draws more winners, leaving out everyone who already won. Reroll unclaimed replaces only those who haven't claimed.
  • Edit changes a running giveaway; new rules apply to members who enter from then on.

See what it did

A giveaway's impact: entries over time, members who joined while it ran, and how many were still there a week later, against the usual range.

Joins and how many stayed are compared with earlier stretches of the same length, beside the invites that brought members in.

If it doesn't work

  • Delivery problem on a row. The bot couldn't post in the channel or give the role. Check its permissions there.
  • A level rule nobody meets. Levelling is off on the server.
  • A winner role is refused. It holds more than member permissions.
